Located in Wynnewood, PA, Friends Central School is an independent, K – 12 Quaker school. Built in the 1970’s Shallcross Hall houses Friends Central’s student center, dining hall, art rooms, and performing arts center.

W.S. Cumby was hired to provide construction management services for the renovation and expansion of the 40 year old building, in order to achieve the school’s goals of building campus community and emphasizing the arts programs. The project included updating and expanding the cafeteria, kitchen, servery, student gallery, and entry canopies.

The building’s entry hosts an expanded art gallery with an atrium view up to galleries on the second floor. The expanded dining area eases crowding and create new, varied seating arrangements for groups or individuals. Changes to the food service area bring students and teachers into more contact with kitchen staff who are preparing and serving the food.
