Dvoor Farm

Flemington, New Jersey

W.S. Cumby recently served as Construction Manager for the renovation and adaptive re-use of Dvoor Farm in Flemington, New Jersey. Dating back to the 1800s, the Historic Barn underwent a transformative reconstruction to house a new event space. The 40-acre site has a combination of 19th and early 20th-century barns and houses the historic farm building. The iconic structure attracts customers year-round for the Hunterdon Land Trust Farmer’s Market.

The project scope included lighting, electrical, and roof work. Phase I of construction involved the demolition of the existing slate roofing, furnishing the barn’s windows and entrance doors, and structural work to restore the barn to its original form. An archaeologist was brought in to carefully scout the area for historic artifacts throughout the construction process.

New shingle roofing was installed to the Milk and Tool Shed, in addition to the exterior door hardware. Boral siding and trim was done to the North addition.

The Team reinstalled historic wooden timbers in the upstairs level. These timbers traversed over the Delaware river over one hundred years ago and were meticulously handled to preserve the roof structure.
