W.S. Cumby provided Construction Management Services for the Tenacre Foundation, A Ministry of Christian Scientists nursing facility in Princeton, New Jersey. To reduce the environmental impact and energy consumption, the Tenacre project incorporated geothermal heating and cooling, high-performance insulation, recycled building materials and solar hot water, among others.
The East Cottages (pictured) are stand-alone nursing residences with 5 rooms each. Situated on Tenacre’s sixty-acre campus, the cottages utilize the abundant natural sunlight with sunrooms and skylights. The cottages are both equipped with separate guest rooms, a dining room, kitchen, common sitting area and sunroom.
An addition was built onto the existing North Wing of Tenacre’s private nursing facility. The addition provides stylistic upgrades to the original 1970s exterior and adds two suites for an additional ten beds.
