Project Accountant

Position Title: Project Accountant

W.S. Cumby is seeking a self-starting, deadline-driven and detail-oriented individual who will work with accounting and project management teams to assist in project accounting. The candidate should embody the company’s core values of Integrity, Partnership and Commitment.

Function:       

As an integral part of the Accounting & Project Management teams The Project Accountant’s primary responsibility is to support the project team regarding process compliance, billing, payments, profitability tracking and other duties related to the project. The role interfaces between the Controller and the Operations team from project initialization through final invoicing to ensure accuracy in billing, cost accounting and process compliance for assigned projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain construction project-level financial records including management of monthly invoicing and cost tracking, processing of change orders and progress payments, etc.
  • Manage entry of costs and receivables in company accounting system
  • Ensure project general requirement and labor costs are current and accurate
  • Monitor project budgets, commitments, costs-to-complete and actual costs to ensure project margins are maintained
  • Provide project profitability reporting to the Project Manager (PM), Operations and Accounting teams and alert the PM if costs are forecasted to exceed budget
  • Assist project teams with any questions or needs related to the accounting department

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar business degree.
  • Minimum 2 years prior experience working as an accountant or bookkeeper
  • Strong attention to detail and mathematical skills
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred
  • Key competencies are communication, teamwork, initiative, and dependability

Technical Skills:

  • Sage, Excel and Procore experience preferred

Marketing and Business Development Associate

W.S. Cumby is a regional, family owned construction management and building company located in Springfield, Pennsylvania. Specializing in high performance building, the firm serves a variety of market sectors including academic, historic, religious and cultural institutions, healthcare, corporate, senior living and multi‐family housing.

The company is seeking a Marketing professional to plan, coordinate and generate proposals and marketing materials, including targeted client and sector marketing, as well as managing the company’s social media and client relationship management accounts.

Marketing responsibilities include development and delivery of messaging and communication materials to support opportunity seeking and sales. Working directly with Ownership and the Business Development team to provide insights, advisement and leadership to help prepare winning proposals, presentations, and other products promoting the company and brand.

In addition to proposal and marketing content generation, the ideal candidate will work with company owners to enhance the company’s brand and develop tailored closing strategies for target clients, projects and sectors.

Candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree and some marketing/design experience, preferably within the regional A/E/C industry. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Prezi and/or similar software preferred. Must be a ‘self-starter’, strong communicator, both in person, and in writing, and possess the energy, drive and motivation to take ownership of the company’s branding messaging and sales strategy.

Senior Project Manager

W.S. Cumby is a regional, family owned construction management and building company located in Springfield, Pennsylvania. Specializing in high performance building, the firm serves a variety of market sectors including higher education, K‐12 education, office, industrial, hospitality, and affordable and multi‐family housing.

Reporting to the Vice President, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the overall project leadership and direction including managing the project team, creating and maintaining strong relations with client/design team and ensuring the project stays on schedule and within budget.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate as a team member in the preparation of client proposals and interviews for negotiated opportunities
  • Manage and coordinate project team personnel and resources
  • Attend preconstruction project meetings
  • Develop and maintain site logistics and phasing plans
  • Perform constructability reviews
  • Prepare and issue project documents including progress reports, detailed project schedule updates and financial/budget updates
  • Oversee cost control and change management systems
  • Set-up QAQC procedures and conduct quality inspections
  • Lead formal construction progress meetings
  • Communicate and enforce W.S. Cumby Safety Program

Job Skills & Abilities

Requirements

  • Verifiable experience with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
  • 10 + years of relevant commercial construction experience
  • 6 + years of experience supervising project teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree – Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent
  • LEED AP and/or green building experience a plus
  • BIM experience a plus

Superintendent

Project Engineer

The Project Engineer assists and supports the Project Manager and Superintendent on assigned projects. The ideal candidate should have 3 to 5 years of commercial construction experience. This position requires the ability to manage project schedules, submittals, shop drawings, and assisting the project manager as necessary. The Project Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as having strong communication and client service skills.

The ideal candidate should have 3 to 5 years of commercial construction experience. The qualified individual must be proficient with Revit, Navis Works, CAD, P-6, Prolog, and Microsoft Office Suite. LEED AP or Green Associate credentials are preferred.
