Construction Update: New Residence Hall at Swarthmore College

Construction of the New Residence Hall (NPPR) at Swarthmore College continues to make progress. The residence hall’s three structures are being worked on simultaneously, ensuring the project’s adherence to the construction schedule. Window installation is underway, as well as continued interior and exterior framing, waterproofing and roofing work. Rough-ins for the building’s plumbing and mechanical components have also begun. Concrete is being poured for the surrounding terrace, which will overlook Swarthmore College’s baseball fields.

Upon its completion in Summer 2017, the new 45,000 SF residence hall will have 21 apartment-style residential suites, which will house 128 beds along with common and support spaces. Each apartment unit will feature single bedrooms with a living, dining and kitchen area and a bathroom with an enclosed shower room. The shared spaces include student lounges, a printing room, laundry room, a trash, recycling and compost room and bicycle storage areas. The New Residence Hall will join the existing Palmer, Pittinger and Roberts trio of Swarthmore College residence halls.
