Back to School in the Age of COVID-19

W.S. Cumby is no stranger to school construction and the hectic schedules and hard deadlines that come with it, but 2020 threw a curveball nobody had ever seen before. W.S. Cumby is proud to be part of project teams that have allowed the Woodlynde School and Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church to welcome back their students despite all of the challenges 2020 has brought.

At the Woodlynde School, W.S. Cumby worked with project partners BCJ Architects and Becker and Frondorf to deliver a new commons and classroom addition complete with dining facilities and an outdoor amphitheater just in time for their return to in-person classes. Despite a COVID-related work stoppage and all of the complex issues that come with a renovation and addition project, the team was able to maintain schedule and deliver the project on time and in budget.

Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church’s weekday school was able to move back into their newly renovated space this week, thanks to the efforts of the project team that included VMA Architects and Watchdog Project Management. Despite over a month of construction stoppage in the field, W.S. Cumby delivered the newly renovated space and brand new vestibule addition on time and under budget. We are excited to see the kids enjoy the renovated playground and new porch play area, and hope that they pay us frequent visits as we begin the renovations of the Ministries Center across campus.
